President's Winter Meeting - Feb 2001
- All the ISA standards online will be available to members for an annual fee of $25.00. This should be available by end of April 2001. This
service will only be available online for you to download and will not apply to the CD or Hardcopy of the standards.
- Members will be able to
download any or all of the ISA standards when they pay an additional fee of $25.00 to their membership. This is a very worthwhile member benefit and
will help us in our efforts to grow our sections and give an extra reason to retain members.
- The CD of the Directory of Instrumentation 2001 and following years will be sent to all non-American/Canadian members. They will also have the
option of requesting the paper version of the directory.
- A European Conference and Exhibition has be agreed. It will take place in England in
October 2001. Mike Scott is working on the Conference and Exhibition in a professional capacity and would be interested in hearing any ideas that
people may have regarding topics for the event.
- There were many more decisions taken on the restructuring of the ISA and these all should have a
very positive effect on the future of ISA as a Global Society serving the need of it's members.

Annual Banquet of England Section
Last year this very successful event was a knock out with guest speaker Henry Cooper, the British boxer who floored Muhammed Ali in a memoral battle
in the sixties. This year they've potted another good speaker in the irrepressible Dennis Taylor the Irish world snooker champion with the upside down
spectacles! Many will remember the nailbiting match into the wee small hours as he battled for his win.
This Black tie dinner will be held in The
Chiswell Brewery in London on 6th November and is an event not to be missed. Talk to Alan Palmer about getting
your ticket now.
Hurry to avoid been snookered!

Postponed!
ISA - The Instrumentation, Systems, and Automation Society, has decided to postpone ISA Europe 2001 to Spring 2002.
Due to the short-term business uncertainty caused by the terrorist attacks of 11 September on the United States, we believe it is in the
best interest of our customers to postpone our European conference and exhibition, scheduled to take place at Bretby Conference Centre,
Burton upon Trent, Staffordshire, United Kingdom from 10 -11 October 2001.
These tragic events have driven many of our participating companies to secure budgets temporarily in anticipation of continued economic
uncertainty. This issue, coupled with the likelihood of a response from the United States against the party responsible, has forced many of
our international customers to evaluate travel for business purposes within the near future.
We at ISA are confident that world trade will stabilize in the early months of 2002 and we look forward to getting back to business and to
hosting our European event in the Spring. Dates have been provisionally reserved for the Spring of 2002 at the Bretby Conference Centre and
will be confirmed at our exhibitor's forum, scheduled to take placed on 10 October 2001. We would like to extend our thanks to our sponsors:
GAMBICA, The Institute of Measurement and Control, and The Industrial Ethernet Book. They have supported our decision and are committed to
the future successful completion of our European event."
Statement from Louise M. Clarke, Global Events Planner with ISA.
The conference has been rescheduled for 13 and 14 March 2002.
