April 18-19 2008, Madrid, Spain
I want to thank D12 and the Spain section for all the warm hospitality I received during my visit and for the extremely well run conference.
I know that a well run leadership conference does not happen by accident. It is the hard work of many people that make a meeting run smoothly, with good content and good fun. I am impressed by the activities of the sections in District 12 especially the Madrid section.
The memories I have from the visit are quite etched in my mind and make me want to return to Spain to experience more of the wonderful culture and hospitality. I so enjoyed the Flamenco dancing, I may just have to find a class I can take here and learn how to dance myself!
Federico: You and all the leaders in Madrid should be very proud of your accomplishments. You're section is a model that other sections should aspire to. You are truly "setting the standard in automation" and in ISA activities. I only wish we had more sections meeting the needs of, and partnering with industry as you are. Please watch the President Blog for a message about your wonderful activities! I want all ISA members to realize your accomplishments! Please extend my thanks and gratitude to all the leaders that work so hard to make the programs happen. I am working on responding to the interview questions...I am waiting for some information from our Standards Vice President in order to accurately answer the questions.
Thank you both for the gifts -- My kids have already consumed some of the chocolate you gave me Alex -- they always enjoy that treat! My eight year old is taking his bar to school to share with his classmates.
I have proudly placed the beautiful fan in my curio cabinet at home along with other souvenirs from my travels and I am currently wearing the beautiful scarf the Spain section gave me!
Again - you have my great appreciation for all of your efforts. District 12 as a whole is operating very well and is a premier example of think globally, act locally for ISA.
If there is any way I can assist the members of District 12 and the Madrid section, do not hesitate to contact me. If either of you make your way to California, do not hesitate to contact me. It would be my great pleasure to offer you the same hospitality I received in Spain.
Very Truly Yours,
Emerson Process Management,
Regards
Alex Bobavitch, VP District 12
Thank you all for making the effort to come, I believe that it was a very productive and constructive meeting, and also very enjoyable.
We also discussed the report of the Task Force. This subject is also of great importance to the society. Our open and at times emotive discussion will help to shape the future of our ISA. Please accept my assurance that your thoughts, concerns and ideas will be brought forward by Alex and me to the District Board meeting in June. In the meantime if you have any further thoughts please forward them to Alex and me.
Finally, I would like to thank The Netherlands Section for their kind offer to host the D12LC in 2009. I will be working with Pieter van der Klooster to ensure that we all have as good a meeting next year in Leiden.
Best regards,
It is hoped to hold the 2009 DLC in the City of Leiden in the Netherlands, home of the oldest University, birthplace of Rembrandt and where the first Dutch Tulips were grown.
