New District VP to be from Ireland Due to unforseen illness John Metcalf has been forced to resign as VP Elect of the district. Promoting and supporting ISA Ireland The very active ISA Ireland Section has recently started a partnership and sponsorship programme with automation companies active in Ireland. This is a method of supporting ISA Ireland in promoting Automation and also benefiting participating companies by introducing them to ISA membership and giving them exposure at ISA Ireland events. Italy looses automation leader We sadly report that Piergiovanni Tira, 59 years old, former ISA Italy Section President (2002-2003) passed away in March. For many years he has been an active member of Italy Section and of A.I.S. (the Italian Association of Automation professionals). He chaired many of the Technical Conferences organised in Italy and devoted special attention to the young generation of professionals . Under his term as President the Section hosted the District Leader Meeting in Cervia in 2003 and he was part of the Organizing Committee of O.M.C. (Offshore Mediterranean Conference) in Ravenna. He was highly esteemed in his work as Instrumentation and Automation Deptartment Manager of Snamprogetti (ENI Group). In 2003-2004 he successfully started off the subsidiary branch of his company in Bucharest (RO) . May he rest in peace! Birthday Greetings We congratulate Dr. Anatoly Ovodenko as he celebrates his 65th birthday (16 Apl) and wish him good health and success. He has served as the St. Petersburg, Russia, Section President and the Conference Committee Chairman. He has also served as the Section Alternate Delegate, and has been the Chairman of the ISA Headquarters Russian Federation since 2002. ....more VP visits Middle East Sections VP Hauet visited four Middle East Sections recently. One, The Qatar Section, organised a symposium on "Plant Wireless Technology for Oil & Gas and Petrochemical Industry" and he was the keynote speaker. The other sections visited in the area included the UAE (Pictured), Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. It was the first visit to the area by a VP in many years. Report on visit to sections! District 12 is one of 14 Districts comprising ISA's District Board. The District Board and the Department Board are arms of the Executive Board, which is the principle legislative body of ISA. District 12 is chaired by Jean- Pierre Hauet, from the France Section, in his role as District 12 Vice President.
